The Life and Times of Julia Borkowski

I am not your stereotypical teenager. In fact, I am quite weird...I admire adjectives and like the phrase “cool beans” because it makes no sense whatsoever. I have a favorite architect (Frank Lloyd Wright) which is more than most fourteen-year-olds can say. Words have always fascinated me, the way a certain arrangement of black ink can become something. I suppose that’s one of the many reasons I love reading and writing poetry. I like to sit on the tan carpet of my bedroom floor and listen to music while I make crossword puzzles out of bananagram tiles. Lately, I have been very deliberate about keeping my hair up at all times, whether in my usual ponytail or swept up with a pair of chopsticks or a pencil, mainly because otherwise it gets in my face during my long hours of reading snuggled under my favorite hot pink fleece. Don’t think that I spend all my time holed up in my room, though. I love to play an occasional game of football with the neighbors, and enjoy the excitement of a Skillet concert. And I couldn’t live without music! Wherever you are in life, there’s always a song that you can relate to. Also, I love anything that I can do with my hands, whether it is playing piano, making necklaces, or solving a rubik’s cube (which I can do in 52 seconds.) Usually I have numerous multicolored duct tape flowers floating around the house. I have this weird philosophy that fall is a morbid time of year, because everything is dying and crumbling. My mom says that everything is just “falling asleep” but I firmly disagree. I’m a firstborn through-and-through, which means that I always need to know exactly what’s happening when and am a hopeless perfectionist. I can never impress myself when it comes to piano, or practically anything else, for that matter. The last and most important thing in my life is and always will be God. He’s got my back no matter what and will make all things work together for good, no matter how bad they may seem at the moment.
Well, If you’ve read this far, you have incredible patience, and I commend you for that. Thanks for spending your last two and a half minutes on me by reading this instead of anything else that you could have been doing. I appreciate you spending your time on me, and anything else all you guys have done for me. All the people in my life have made me who I am today. I thank you for that.
